GRAND CRUS Lands Gamble For Pipe Team

Late on Saturday afternoon Turf Talk members received an email advising them to back just one horse at Cheltenham on Sunday and this was the message we gave them:

GRAND CRUS (9/1) is very well fancied to win this race today. A respectable second behind classy Nicholls horse Sanctuaire over an inadequate trip at Taunton last time out shows how good this horse is and with conditions to suit this is a massive price.  He is in top condition and is ready to win first time out. This is a competitive race of course but connections are confident of a very very big run and it is hard to see how he cannot make the frame. Maximum Each Way Bets Recommended.

TIMES UP WINS FOR TURF TALK AT 14/1

What a fantastic end to the flat season for Turf Talk. We advised in only one race on Saturday with two selections and whilst LETHAL GLAZE disappointed our main selection was TIMES UP who won quite comfortably for us at a massive 14/1! Turf Talk are back and after a short break and some contact streamlining we are extremely confident that with the National Hunt season up and running we are going to yet again be the most feared of all the tipsters!

REDFORD Wins Ayr Gold Cup For Turf Talk At 14/1

Well it was a fantastic day of tipping from Turf Talk on Saturday! We tipped MISPLACED FORTUNE in the Ayr Silver Cup who won the race on the near side but for the first time at Ayr this week the far side nicked it and we could only manage third, but at an advised 16/1 was a nice result. Tepmokea ran a cracker over at Newbury to finish third at a very tasty 16/1, but the best result of all was when REDFORD romped home in the Ayr Gold Cup at a whopping 16/1. Back in form with another very profitable Saturday!

Poet's Place Wins at 4/1

Well we got off to a flyer on Saturday with our first tip POET'S PLACE winning at 4/1. He may have left it late but it was great to get that win on the board, especially as todays tips were FREE. PREMIO LOCO was then a little unfortunate to get beaten by an improved Balthazars Gift. We beat all the main dangers and only just got turned over by horse that has ability but has disappointed for most of the season - typical he decides to come up trumps against us! Still all in all a very good day as each way bets advised on both!

Well Backed Easy Ticket Wins!

We were gutted that SECRECY only managed 2nd in the first at 5/2 as we expected a win and then COME AND GO flopped at Thirsk, but all the bad news was undone when EASY TICKET won at Haydock. We advised members to snap up the 8/1 and it seems most of you managed to get a decent price about the horse who eventually won at a well backed 7/2.

Disappointment for us today at Brighton with FIRE KING only managing 2nd at 7/2 and WOODEN KING getting beaten to add to the misery. Onwards and upwards, lets hope we can get back on the winners very soon!

Three tips today all advised each way and with Nellie Ellis finishing third at 9/2 it was fantastic to see Oondori win for us at a massive 13/2 to see yet another day of huge profits for Turf Talk.

Mudball So Unlucky, Eucharist Wins!

Well the huge disappointment of seeing Jonny Mudball lead for the entire race but the last nod of the head was erased as EUCHARIST won for us at a lovely 10/3 so with each way bets landed on JONNY MUDBALL at 14/1 and bigger, the win bets on Eucharist made it a very very nice day!

MOYNAHAN Crying Out For A Jockey With A Brain

Another frustrating afternoon for MOYNAHAN who will never win a race if tom Queally keeps the ride. There is no doubt the Queally has ability and can ride a strong finish, but if it comes to a hold up horse where the use of a brain is required then he falls woefully short. I have sat and reflected and watched the race half a dozen times and we will never know how close MOYNAHAN could have been given half a chance. it may be that he wouldn't have been good enough but all we want is to see the horse given a chance. Dropped out and going well there was a huge gap to Queallys left, so he decides to go right and into a brick wall, then he sees the gap and it closes, then he goes right again and that closes.........I will be sticking with this horse but only if I see a different jockey on board. The ability is there but the luck isn't!! That's two races now that the same jockey has made the same errors! He managed to ride lord Shanakill to victory for his guvnor in the next and managed to get the breaks needed. Very very frustrating!

Another Profitable Saturday For Turf Talk

NOBLE CITIZEN ran the race that we told you he would at a massive price on Saturday at Ascot. We advised each way bets at 20/1 and had Buick not mistimed his run we would have been on a winner rather than a close second! The gap appeared and he just didn't let the horse run through it early enough and as good as young Buick is, experience counts for everything at Ascot. I'm probably being harsh but when just yards pat the post you are a length in front on a 20/1 shot the frustration comes through. We then had CAPE BLANCO advised each way at 6/1 who finished second behind runaway winner and very impressive Harbinger so big profits made and the most pleasing thing of all is that the tips are all running well at the moment so hopefully that will continue into Glorious Goodwood starting on Tuesday!

Another Big Race 1st and 2nd For Turf Talk

Well I proved today why so many members stick with me during a bad spell....When I bounce back, I bounce back in style. The disappointment of Ballista was wiped from the memory very quickly when I advised members to back 2 horses in the big race at Market Rasen. I advised decent each way bets on GRAND SLAM HERO (Won 9/1) and PUTNEY BRIDGE (2nd 10/1) and having received a fair few emails it appears that quite a few of you got the 100/1 forecast! Thank you to all of you that have emailed me with your messages of support over the last week or so and I can safely assume that I won't have to read any abusive emails this evening!

BANKER WIGMORE HALL WINS

A great day for Turf Talk on Saturday as we told you that WIGMORE HALL was a BANKER bet at 11/2. OK so we only just won by a short head, but who cares, I was owed a bit of luck and Martin Lane gave us a perfect ride and helped us smash the bookies! And what about a couple of previous Turf Talk tips. The ridiculous abuse that I received after HILLVIEW BOY ran badly at Newcastle was unacceptable, especially as the horse clearly had something amiss. He proved me right by finishing 4th at a massive 50/1 on Saturday. Also another horse that I have tipped twice previously BLUE JACK won at Chester at a very tasty 10/1. After I tipped him last time out I actually received an email telling me I was useless and didn't have a clue what I was doing! Those kind of emails get swept under the carpet very quickly as I clearly know exactly what I am doing or I wouldn't be so successful. Anyway I told you all that Blue Jack had the ability and I couldn't tip him again after last time but am delighted that a few of you appeared to get involved. I certainly backed him and had an awesome day at the office. In fact my only disappointment was SHERNANDO who was given a terrible ride and should have led, kicked on in the straight and outstayed them all. I expect to see him stepped up to 1 mile 4 furlongs next time out. Thanks for all your emails this week - before and after the Wigmore Hall victory!

Close But Not Enough For 20/1 ARLEQUIN

For a split second I thought i was about to make amends for the last few weeks with a lovely 20/1 winner in ARLEQUIN. As Sand Skier just edged over and Michael Hills stopped riding for a couple of strides I knew that a place was all that was left for us as that surely cost him the neck and short head that he was beaten in the end. It is no coincidence that the first 3 home were drawn 18,19 and 20 and those having to run wide including RANSOM NOTE suffered for it big time. Still we show a small profit on the race and at least there has been no damage done!

Another Bad Day At The Office

A treble of woe today as our selections all got beaten. HAMISH McGONAGALL was unfortunate to get bumped by Shane Kelly and went from travelling well to having to snatch up and end up in last place with only a couple of furlongs to go and with no chance or time for recovery. MOYNAHAN was given far too much to do by Queally and got in all sorts of trouble but ran on well and could still have some progression in him to pop up at nice price at some point. Finally HILLVIEW BOY clearly went wrong and was all but pulled up by Richard Hughes. At some point surely our luck will change!

CAPE BLANCO Wins Irish Derby At Massive 7/2

Well lets hope that this win is the start of another Turf Talk winning run. We told you that Cape Blanco would win the Irish Derby and that 5/2 was a very generous price, so you can imagine our delight as he continued to drift and then won at a ridiculous 7/2. This horse should have been around 6/4 and I am delighted that we made the bookies pay for their mistake. Thanks for keeping the faith and well done to those that took our advice!

Royal Ascot Ends With More Disappointment

Well we got off to a flyer on Day One and it was downhill from there with lots of place bets landed but little winners. On the last day we at least recommended maximum each way bets on Swingkeel at 8/1 and he finished third at a heavily supported 9/2 so at least we collected. We will now look to our next tip to try and turn the month around.

More Royal Ascot Disappointment

Friday proved to be the most disappointing day of the week for both the main tips and the guide. The week has been full of nice priced placed horses to keep our heads above water, but Friday gave me a definite sinking feeling. The day kicked off with HONEYMEAD who reared in the stalls as they opened and Hanagans head almost hit the top of the stalls. All momentum was lost and from there had little chance. Maybe he wasn't good enough but I have a feeling he is much much better than that and we may just get a nice price next time out. There's nothing else worth talking about as it was a pretty poor show all round. This is usually my most successful meeting of the year and it will take something special to turn it round. I have a few strong fancies today but didn't bother with the guide as it was time consuming and proving fruitless. Fingers crossed we can end the week in style!

Another Disappointing Day For The Main Tips!

Our main tips were very disappointing today with PRINCIPAL ROLE blatantly not staying despite Henry's insistence that she would improve for the step up and then KITE WOOD hated the fast conditions and we can put that run down to the ground rather than the distance. The Royal Ascot Guide was again full of places with EXCEL BOLT taking third at 7/1, KING OF REASON was 5th at 33/1 - remember most bookmakers including Bet365 and Paddy Power paid out on 5th place and WIGMORE HALL was desperately unlucky when getting boxed in and not getting out in time as he flew home to finish a very close third at 12/1 - he was in front in front 10 yards after the post! So we are now moving onto Friday and i am confident that we can get those winners. Let's hope tomorrow is the day! Keep the faith!

Seconditis On Day Two Of Royal Ascot

I won't be writing too much up on the blog tonight as I am studying hard for tomorrows tips to try and make up for some bad luck today. We had both Red Jazz and Twice Over come second, beaten in photos and then the rather messy Royal Hunt Cup which saw Dandy Boy beaten by the draw as was Moonlit Garden in the Queen Mary. The last race saw us get second and third with our two selections which gave us a profit. Not too much damage done and a little frustrating! I am looking forward to Thursdays card and have some nice ones for you!

Fantastic Royal Ascot Day One!

Well we have got the week off to a flyer for our members! Our Royal Ascot Guide had some great info and we were unlucky in the first with Paco Boy. Then our main tips put up EQUIANO at a massive 10/1 and he won easily at a well backed 9/2. In the guide I then told members that CANFORD CLIFFS was my banker of the week and 9/4 looked like a massive price. So the returned SP of 11/4 was absolutely ludicrous but I won't be complaining as I landed some rather tasty bets. I then recommended each way bets on ROAYH in the next who finished 3rd at 25/1. The disappointment for me was The Ascot Stakes. I thought Juniors price was far too short in a competitive race and ignored some valuable information. I was delighted for David Pipe who was just a young man when we led in the winner of the race back in 1994 and our little horse even got a mention on BBC. Unfortunately our selection SOM TALA who was travelling by far the best throughout finished lame. In the last race I warned that Faheys Marine Commando would be dangerous but plumped for two others in EXCELLO and STONE OF FOLCA who finished 3rd and 4th at big prices and in the last furlong looked like they might get 1st and 2nd. Still not bad advice in that race with 3 horses mentioned finishing first, 3rd and 4th. On to Wednesday and I have some more great stuff for you!

Bad Luck Continues As Spirit Is Needed Defeated

Mark Johnston and connections were hugely disappointed last night after the defeat of Spirit Is Needed who they were expecting to win. Nina Carberry reported that she was never happy with the horse who didn't travel smoothly and she thought he also lost his action about 6 furlongs out. Sadly there is nothing we can do about that and that is just the nature of this cruel sport. We will get back to winning ways very soon and hopefully get another winning run together.

Thebes Gamble Foiled

Our only tip for Monday was only just beaten after another big gamble. We advised that you back THEBES each way at 6/1. He ran a decent enough race and with no excuses finished 3rd, beaten only a neck and half a length as a heavily backed 5/2 favourite. Not quite the winner we had hoped for but another profitable day nonetheless. Let's hope June is as successful as March and April after a disappointing May.

SOLIYA Wins As Expected - Gamble Landed!

Well it was a lovely way to make amends for a few poor days. I have had several emails already thanking me for what proved to be a sensational tip. I ripped the arms off several bookies for 14/1 and 12/1 and had some similar prices on Betfair. Within a couple of hours it was as short as 5/1 before romping home at a still very tasty 7/1. I told you in no uncertain terms "Remember this horse was rated 125 when winning at Newbury a few years ago and was considered decent. She is relatively lightly raced and  having plummeted to a rating of 110, would only need to be halfway near her best to destroy this field. Hadden Frost takes off a further 3 pounds and the tongue strap could also help. As long as they have found the key to her problems and she shows some of her old ability then she will take all the beating in what looks a weak race." She went out in front, jumped superbly and was never headed. Fantastic Stuff!

Rain Ruins Promise Of A Good Day!

Well sometimes there are things that just can't be accounted for. Haydock watered the track and then suffered a day of rain turning fast ground to soft ground in a matter of hours. Topolski needs top of the ground and although he can handle a bit of give, he just simply doesn't handle soft conditions, so I won't be giving up on him just yet. The same can be said for Angel's Pursuit also suffered the change in conditions. It is frustrating really when connections know that a horse cannot possibly win on the changing ground why they don't pull it out. I knew come 2.30 that we were in for a torrid afternoon and sadly I was proved right. Still, even after a pretty terrible month I still have the confidence that we can turn things round. Those that know me well enough by now, will have the confidence to stick with it, as there is always a massive price winner lurking round the corner!

Double Godolphin Disappointment

Well I have been quite dubious of the form of the Suroor arm of the Godolphin operation and I think last night was evidence that we need to give them time and monitor the situation. Darley Sun ran ok but just didn't really find very much and we were on the right one of the two Suroor horses in the Brigadier Gerard Stakes. However, the way the other horse Sabotage finished was alarming and although our selection Prince Siegfried ran well at a decent price and was denied a run I don't think he would have got third and again just ran a bit flat in the final furlong. They have had just one winner in the last 2 weeks and that has to be a concern. As most of you will know by now, we have excellent contacts at Godolphin but for now we will have to hold back and wait for some positive signs. I would urge you all to treat any Suroor horses with caution.

MUSIC SHOW Unlucky Again?

We were confident that MUSIC SHOW would make amends for the Newmarket disappointment and did enough to prove that with a better draw in the English 1000 Guineas she would surely have been much closer. It was a shame that Mick Channon couldn't wait another 24 hours to see if Kieren could ride and without being too critical of Ryan Moore it would surely have been beneficial to have a jockey that has ridden the Curragh track successfully so many times in the past. We do feel a little aggrieved as we were arguably on the fastest finishing horse and again feel that Music Show was a little unfortunate not to win having been beaten only a head and a neck. Such is life. Next up Sandown on Thursday!

EZDEYAAD Gets Us Back On Track!

Well after Wednesdays disappointment we quickly made amends as promised with our only tip of the day winning for us. He made us sweat but just held on to land a rather nice gamble. Waseet Disappoints at Goodwood

WASEET seemed to settle much better at Goodwood today but just doesn't appear to be the horse he was last year before injury struck. There is a chance he could get back to his best but I won't be wasting anymore of my money on him. I was so so disappointed with the run and expected much more from him, but when it came to the crunch there was just nothing in the tank. Oh well we have had a superb few months so just have to take the rough with the very smooth!

Our Members Were On CLAREMONT...Were You?

Even by our standards the information we gave our members on CLAREMONT was absolutely sensational. I am sure there were many of you holding your heads in your hands as Godolphins other horse Sabotage was heavily backed as our tip CLAREMONT drifted. We told you that "CLAREMONT has run big races behind the likes of Harbinger and Jukebox Jury and could take some beating. Has gradually been coming back to form since returning from Meydan and is expected to win this. Godolphin are also represented by Sabotage but we are told that CLAREMONT is the more fancied of the two runners. Win bets advised." There was some disappointment to follow as our other selection VERDANT could never get in the race and Ryan Moore was very easy on the horse and could still be seen staying on nicely under a hands and heels ride. One to definitely not lose faith in!

FAREER Heavily Backed To Win At 11/2

FAREER was our only selection of the day and yet again a Turf Talk tipped horse is heavily backed to win for us. We told you to snap up the 10/1 and there was still some 8s and 7s available for much of the morning before the final plunge saw an SP of 11/2. It seems that some were surprised by the win....Not Us! Music Show Beaten By The Draw In Guineas

It won't be too long until we are proven to be right about this horse. So unlucky to be drawn on the far side and we knew our fate before the race having seen the outcome for horses drawn high in the earlier races. We never stood a chance and we know this horse is top class. Hopefully we may still get a price next time! Music Show is one to watch. Not So Impressive Day Two!

Well it just wasn't to be on Day Two of The Cheltenham Festival. GENTLE RANGER could not have failed to get a place at the very least in the first at an advised 40/1 and came to grief at the 4th last to let the bookies off the hook! The second race was even worse as QUEL ESPRIT fell at the second hurdle. The RSA Chase saw PUNCHESTOWNS finish lame, although our Laying Service did put up LONG RUN who was beaten. Onto the Queen Mother Champion Chase and our most confident advice of the day..LAY MASTER MINDED for Big Money! Soundly beaten into 4th it was a monster profit to wipe away any bad memories of the previous races! Next up we advised each way decent bets on NOTUS DE LA TOUR who was unfortunate to come up against a very well treated Nicholls horse who won comfortably, but we collected on the place. For those that also follow the Lays you would have had a decent day, for the others it was average. Onto Thursday and we need to make amends!
